AI, and especially large language models (LLMs), are powerful tools for reading, summarizing, and interpreting unstructured data (exactly what contracts are made of). Used well, they can streamline review cycles, support drafting, and reduce manual work without removing human judgment.

Oscar and Mahé both highlighted the importance of context and oversight. LLMs don’t have legal intuition or experience; they rely on the data you give them. Without clear safeguards, accuracy can drop and sensitive data can be exposed. The message was clear: AI supports legal work, it doesn’t replace it.
3. Why privacy and data residency matter
Behind every prompt is a data transfer. As Mahé explained, most global AI services still process data outside the EU. For organizations operating under GDPR, it’s essential to confirm where data is processed and what retention or training policies apply.

4. Precisely’s AI roadmap
Oscar shared how Precisely is embedding AI capabilities directly into the platform to enhance, not disrupt, the way teams already work:

- Upcoming features for natural language search, contract analysis, and guardrail-based playbooks
- Continued focus on human-in-the-loop validation and EU-only processing
